And now on to today’s question…

Full on Romance Books Or Action-Packed With A Few Love Scenes?

Brandy Potter.
MeI would have to go with Action Packed. I don’t like reading the mushy (pronounced moooooo-shy) stuff. I hate insta love and the romance books are rarely realistic in their portrayal of love/relationships. I like books where romance is the secondary motive for the story and the romance is part of the character’s transformation.

Whilst I do enjoy full on romance, I prefer action-packed with a few love scenes. I find that too much romance can sometimes be too much. I also think the love scenes mean more when they are mixed in amongst all the action.

.I tend to shy away from romance, mostly because I am more interested in what’s happening between the romantic scenes anyway… So when a book explicitly states that it is “Romance”, why would I expect anything else besides the romantic scenes? That being said, I get really grumpy when a book does not claim to be a “Romance”, and yet the whole time the main characters are absolutely distracted from the whole plot by their feelings for one another–and their own reluctance to deal with said feelings! I take my romance as a side dish: not the main thrust of the plot, the romance is used to develop the characters and further the plot, and outside of the odd romantic scene, the characters can still keep focused and move on through the non-romantic events without obsessing over one another!

Both! I’m a genre hopper, so it really just depends on what mood I’m in for what I’m going to read. I do tend to read more contemporary and NA romances than anything, but I also read a lot of fantasy and thrillers.

Sarah Nowicki

SarahNowicki (2).pngI have a blog dedicated to Paranormal Romance, soooo, it might be pretty obvious as to which side my bread is buttered. I love the Romance Genre!!! I love the interaction between characters, how feelings are hashed out and, ultimately, how everyone finds a happy ending. Having said that, I like some intrigue and action as well.

Luckily with paranormal romance, I’m more than likely going to get an even dose of both. And that’s really how I like it. There’s nothing like a character finding her sexy-as-sin soulmate while trying to defeat an evil force hell-bent on destroying the world. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
